چکیده

Location: 3q25.2 Note: Membrane metallo-endopeptidase (MME) is a 100-kD type II transmembrane glycoprotein originally described on human acute lymphoblastic leukemia cell lines and therefore it was originally designated as common acute lymphocytic leukemia antigen (CALLA). MME is a neutral endopeptidase that cleaves peptides at the amino side of hydrophobic residues and inactivates several peptide hormones including atrial natriuretic factor, glucagon, enkephalin, substance P, neurotensin, oxytocin, and bradykinin. It is also a major enzyme for degradation of betaamyloid.

Interaction of mammalian neprilysin with binding protein and calnexin in Schizosaccharomyces pombe.

Neutral endopeptidase (neprilysin or NEP, EC 3.4.24.11) is a zinc metallo-endopeptidase expressed in many eukaryotic cell types and displaying several important physiological roles. In the brain (and central nervous system), this enzyme is involved in the molecular mechanism of pain by its action in the degradation of enkephalin molecules. In the kidney, NEP is implicated in the degradation of ...

Comparison of Glomerular Transcriptome Profiles of Adult-Onset Steroid Sensitive Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis and Minimal Change Disease

OBJECTIVE To search for biomarkers to differentiate primary focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) and minimal change disease (MCD). METHODS We isolated glomeruli from kidney biopsies of 6 patients with adult-onset steroid sensitiveFSGS and 5 patients with MCD, and compared the profiles of glomerular transcriptomes between the two groups of patients using microarray analysis. RESULTS Ana...

Certain mouse strains are deficient in a kidney brush-border metallo-endopeptidase activity.

Preparations of microvilli from kidneys of BALB/c mice contain an alkaline metallo-endopeptidase, meprin (metallo-endopeptidase from renal tissue). Certain genealogically related inbred mice are markedly deficient in meprin activity. The meprin-deficient strains (CBA/J and C3H/HeJ) exhibit normal levels of other brush-border enzymes: alkaline phosphatase, aminopeptidase M and another proteinase...

The role of ACE2, angiotensin-(1-7) and Mas1 receptor axis in glucocorticoid-induced intrauterine growth restriction.

BACKGROUND Plasma and urine levels of the potent vasodilator Ang-(1-7) are elevated in mid and late pregnancy and are correlated with elevated placental angiogenesis, fetal blood flow, and rapid fetal growth. We hypothesized that Ang-(1-7), its receptor (Mas1) and the enzymes involved in Ang-(1-7) production (ACE2 and Membrane metallo-endopeptidase; MME) are down regulated in response to glucoc...

Cloning and characterization of Aplysia neutral endopeptidase, a metallo-endopeptidase involved in the extracellular metabolism of neuropeptides in Aplysia californica.

Cell surface metallo-endopeptidases play important roles in cell communication by controlling the levels of bioactive peptides around peptide receptors. To understand the relative relevance of these enzymes in the CNS, we characterized a metallo-endopeptidase in the CNS of Aplysia californica, whose peptidergic pathways are well described at the molecular, cellular, and physiological levels. Th...
